BEST ROMA Engineering College
University "La Sapienza"
Rome, Italy
Course contents:
Bioengineering of cardiovascular system is becoming more and
more important for human future. Biomedical engineering, nowadays,
contributes to the improvement of the quality of health care.
Phisicians, clinical engineers and paramedics increasingly depend
on high-tech equipment, whether for diagnosis, therapy or research.
This course handles some of the most important methods concerning
the study of cardiovascular system, artificial organs and medical
equipment. The lectures will be given by professors from University
of Rome "LaSapienza" Faculty of Engineering, reaserchers from
Biomedical Laboratory of the National Health Institute, and some
doctors from the University Hospital "Umberto I".
The course will be held at the main hall of the CISB (Centro
Interdipartimentale per l'Analisi dei Modelli e dell'Informazione
nei Sistemi Biomedici - Center for the Modelling Analisis and the
Infomation processing in Biomedical System).
The Center is a multidisciplinary institution of the University of
Rome "La Sapienza", and brings together mathematicians, engineers,
biologists and physicians. It comprises research laboratories in the
areas of biomedical instrumentation, signal and imaging analysis,
and a specialized library.

Roma, "The Eternal City":
A very famous legend tells that Rome was founded in April 21st 754 BC, by two brothers named Romolo and Remo and brought up by a wolf.
Since then the importance of Rome has increased century by century,
becoming the capital of the Roman Empire first, and the centre of
Christianity then. All we can write is worthless compared with what
you will discover by yourself : its beauties and its magic atmosphere walking around and ..... it will be clear why Rome is
called "La Cittą Eterna"!!!
The Engineering College of Rome:
The College was founded in 1817 by the Pope Pio VII, and dealt
basically with Hydraulics and Road Construction. In 1873 it reached
University rank, yet it was not included in the Roman University
plan.
In 1913 in order to tailor the Engineering School to the new
requirements of industry, it was split into two sections: Civil and
Industrial Engineering. Later on, in 1960 it became the "Engineering College" at the Rome University "La Sapienza".
Now the College offers twelve degrees based on a five year program, ranging from Aeronautics, Mechanics,
Chemistry and Materials to Civil, Electronics and Telecomunications.
In the last year people studying in our College were more than 17.000,
while the population of the students of the whole University of Rome "La
Sapienza" was more than 180.000.
