  • Our University
    • Our university, the University of Rome "La Sapienza", is one of the biggest university of the world for student population (with more than 200.000 students). The Faculty of Engineering, where the courses will be held, is situated in the big building near St. Peter in Chains' curch (not the Vatican!) , on the hill in front of the Colosseum, a central place of Rome, close to the main road of Rome "Via dei Fori Imperiali" which connects the Coliseum to Venice Square.

  • Transportation
    • During the WC most trips will be done by public transportation. When this will not possible, we will use cars or private busses. Many trips around the centre of Rome will be done by subway.
    • Tickets for public transports cost 1 Euro and lasts 75 minuts on any Bus, Tram (city train) or Subway. You can find an interactive map of Rome at www.atac.roma.it
  • Money
    • No fee will be asked for this course. During the course you will only need some pocket money to pay a drink in the pubs and clubs we will visit. Don’t forget to take some extra money if you wish to buy any other thing you could like.
    • Prices are quite high, especially in the centre of the city; we suggest you not to buy anything from the turistic shops you find on the roads, if you are willing to make some good shopping just ask to us for the best places
  • Weather
    • The course will be held during the last days of winter; the temperatures in these days usually go from 18ºC to 6ºC. During the day there is often sunshine, but in the night the temperature can reach 0ºC.
    • The weather is moderately mild and dry in the winter. Rome has a snow storm only once every 10 years or so. While you can expect fair weather all year around, there are greater chances of rain in the winter months. In the exceptional event of a snow storm, the city becomes immobilized and everybody goes out to take picture. Some enthusiasts (like our PR Responsible) even take out their skis to try them on the slopes of one of the hills on which Rome is built. However, such unusual climatic episodes last for only a short time, and normally after about 24 hours the snows melt, and a pale winter sun creeps out from behind the clouds.
  • Things you should bring
    • Identity Card and/or Passport (for Countries outside the Schengen Treaty)
    • Your Student Card (not strictly necessary)
    • Contact phone numbers and Address
    • Camera (there are just too many things to photograph walking around Rome ;) )
    • Sleeping bag (just in case)
    • Warm clothes, some heavy sweater or pullover (it could get cold in the night)
    • Towel, toothbrush, etc.
    • For the International Evening we expect you to prepare/bring a typical dish from your country. This can be an appetizer, a principal dish, a dessert,... You will be able to buy common ingredients in Rome, you should take special ingredients with you. Besides something to eat we would also like to taste a typical alcoholic drink from your country. Take also your national flag if you have one.
